By general agreement, Micron has one of the best beaches in south Pelion - a long stretch of south-facing sand sloping gently
into the waters of the Aegean Sea.
This building plot, which contains some 100 mature olive trees, is on the lower slope of the hill rising above the beach,
and has a lovely, unobstructed view towards the Aegean and the northern part of the island of Evia. The plot is less than
600 metres from the beach.
|
Access to the plot is via an agricultural track which, although unsurfaced, is in good condition. Although the plot is outside
the village borders of Micron, its size guarantees that a property in excess of 200 square metres can be built on it. Near
the bottom of the plot there are the four walls of a ruined 'khalivi', the barn used for storing the olives after harvesting.
Electricity and water supplies are within easy reach.
Micron itself is a beach-side hamlet which has a a few rooms to rent during the summer, and a couple of small tavernas. Around
the headland to the north is the fishing village of Platania, where there are year-round tavernas, and a well-stocked grocer
and greengrocer, a butcher and a baker. Both Platania and Micron are very quiet in the winter, but in the summer Platania
in particular is bustling with visitors; mostly Greek, from the plains of Thessaly, but with a sprinkling of tourists from
England, France, Germany, Austria and Italy.
